We Sold Our House but We're Not Moving Yet
I wanted to give you an update on our next house adventure!

So basically, we sold our house, but we’re not moving yet because my parents bought our house!
I am so excited to share this huge and exciting news that we have been working on over here for the last few months! If you don’t know, my parents moved from MA at the end of August to be close to us here in Rochester NY. They sold their house they had owned for 29 years and moved into an apartment out here in NY.
Their original plan was to buy a house out here after they had sold their house. Back in June, my Dad (who also happens to work in banking and is super good with numbers!) came up with a brilliant plan to buy our house from us! Since they sold their house at the end of August, we have been working with our attorney to do a private sale and it was finally finalized this week!! YAY!
It’s a win, win for us and my parents. They didn’t have to play the housing market game and we got to sell our house a lot sooner than we had planned! The best part? We are not moving out until we find a new house to buy. We are hoping to be in a new house by the end of the summer next year! I will definitely take you along on that journey too!
We knew that this house would not be our forever house, but last year it was so hard looking for houses and we really wanted to be in this area, so when we found this house, we knew it could work for a while! It’s always best to move into the location you want as you can’t change that! We knew we would sell in probably 4-5 years, but when my parents approached us with this idea, it made a lot of sense for us all!
I’m so excited for my parents to live in this house! It’s honestly the PERFECT layout for them. We keep saying how this entire plan was meant to be! Looking back, all the stress of buying this house was so worth it so that we can have my parents closeby to us!!!
We have already done so much to update it that they get to come in, put their personal touches on it and update even more of the house. I’m excited for them to make it their own! My Mom has already told me that I will be helping her design it with furniture and decor once they are fully moved in so that will be fun!
This also leads us to an exciting new chapter…house hunting! Since this will be our 3rd house, we really want it to be our forever house. I know that’s hard to say, but we really don’t see ourselves moving after this. We have a list of really strong wants/needs so we are going to be really particular in our search, however, we want to make the best decision for our family! We will compromise on some things, but after owning 2 houses now, we know what works for us and what doesn’t. I can’t wait to see what is next for us!
