Simple Drop Zone Set Up

Setting up a simple drop zone in your home can help keep clutter at bay and maintain an organized living space. Here's a quick and easy way to create a functional drop zone:

1. Choose a Convenient Location

Select a spot near the main entrance that is easily accessible for everyone in the household. This could be a corner of the entryway, a section of the hallway, or even a designated space in the living room. For us, it’s right off our garage in our kitchen that was kind of wasted space.

2. Add a Cabinet or Table

Place a cabinet or table to store everything in one spot. I used this double level table. The top is for all the papers, keys, wallets, etc. The bottom is for backpacks and outdoor gear.

3. Utilize a Catch-All Basket or Tray

Introduce a catch-all basket or tray on a table or shelf. This can be used to store keys, mail, sunglasses, and other small items that tend to get misplaced. I also use this for all the mail and schoolwork to keep it all conited.

4. Incorporate some decor

I still want it to look pretty so I added a plant, a candle, and a tray. You could also add a mirror, cork board, or message board.

5. Labeling

Consider labeling different sections of the drop zone to ensure that everyone knows where items belong, making it easier to maintain the organization.

By following these simple steps, you can create an effective drop zone to keep your home clutter-free and organized. See my IG reel of the space HERE.
