Modern Entryway

Our entryway isn’t much of an entryway actually! The front door leads right into the kitchen so there isn’t really much of a drop zone or space for storing shoes/coats.
We don’t typically come in through the front door as we use the garage door and side door entrance. We really just use the front door for guests. We do have a closet right next to the front door, but since our kitchen doesn’t have much storage, we use it for overflow of kitchen appliances, our vacuum, storage bags, etc.
We first painted the whole entryway Sweet Coconut Milk by Behr which is such a warm and creamy white. I love how it looks in our house. It really sets the tone for a cozy space.
When you walk into our home, we have 2 sets of stairs on the right hand side. One set of stairs goes up to the bedrooms and one set goes down to the family room. I really like that the downstairs staircase is ‘hidden’ behind the upstairs staircase so when you walk in, you aren’t seeing both sets of stairs at once.
LIGHTING
We switched out the chandelier that was in the entry as it was not our taste at all. We hung this one up from Lights.com and it’s BEAUTIFUL! Truly a statement piece that isn’t too over the top, but just enough. It fills the vaulted ceilings perfectly and gives off tons of light with the 8 lights. We love it so much and it has truly transformed the entryway to feel more modern yet traditional and mid century which is what we are kind of going for in the house. It's so pretty and delicate and I could not love it more! Use my code ARATARI10 for 10% off your order on the Lights.com website!
DECOR
On the closet door, I hung this basket with my dried hydrangeas. These were from our yard that I wanted to preserve and thought they looked pretty on the door. It’s a nice pop of color in the otherwise white entry.
On the adjacent wall, I hung up this antique tulip tray and put my great great Aunt’s pie plates in the middle of it. I love the nod to the past combined with all of the new and modern pieces in the space.
The baby gates are amazing and such a must have with our 2 little ones running around. It’s perfect for dinner time to keep everyone either in the living room or in the kitchen with us while we make dinner. I have more information coming on the baby gates on Monday so be sure to check back ;)
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
On the tulip tray wall, I eventually want to stencil a fun pattern. I can’t wait to start that project…hopefully soon and I will be sure to share!
We also plan to change out the flooring in the entryway/kitchen as well, but that will be in time.
I love how entryway and how modern it feels compared to when we moved in. It feels open and airy and I love it!
