I love how our media console and bookshelves came together in our living room.

The media console and bookshelves in our living room are so cozy and are the perfect addition to the space.

Our living room needed something on the big wall across from our dining space. It felt so empty and cold and I wanted it to feel warm and cozy.
We eventually want to put in a fireplace and mantel and maybe add in some actual built ins on the side. This is probably not going to happen for a bit, but I still wanted the space to reflect our style and to feel homey. I came up with a plan and I love how it turned out! I am a big believer in making your home a place you love, even if you have to do smaller temporary fixes until you can do the big projects. This living room space is the perfect example and I LOVE it!
MEDIA CONSOLE
I found this media console/TV stand from Birch Lane. It’s so beautiful! I love the color of the wood tone, it's called barnwood. It fits in perfectly with the rest of the room. It’s right in the middle of dark and light toned wood.
It was so easy to set up and it’s very sturdy. I love the shelves under it so that we can store extra things! I actually have our dining room linens stored since we don’t have tons of storage space in the kitchen. It works out perfectly because they are easy to grab when in the dining room.
I love that it is traditional and modern. It fits in with our eclectic living room really well. I think it’s a timeless piece that we can use for many different things for years to come!
BOOKSHELVES
These bookshelves are very basic which is what I wanted. I didn’t want to invest a lot of money on something that is temporary. I wanted them to feel like built ins so I got them in white to blend in with the walls. I have considered painting them the wall color, but that may be a project that is done down the line.
On the bookshelves, I have tons of Christmas decor as well as decor that I plan to keep out year round. I also have lots of plants which is probably the main reason I wanted bookshelves!
I try to keep the decor somewhat symmetrical, but I don’t want it all to match perfectly. I balance things out by having similar colors woven throughout the shelves. I use lots of textures and different objects so the eye keeps bouncing around and doesn’t look one dimensional.
I added some fun decor from Birch Lane such as the pink pineapple, the marble tray under the ZZ plant, and the little wooden tray. I think they are perfect for year round, even though the pineapple is a bit pastel, I love it for a pop of pink!
As far as Christmas decor goes, I added a few little houses, some twinkle lights, a few trees, our stockings to a big bowl, and lots of layers of garland on the TV stand. I love how cozy it makes the bookshelves and TV stand feel!
My vision for this space in our living room together so well with these pieces from Birch Lane. The TV stand is so pretty and I love all the decor I found! They have so many great pieces, be sure to take a peek!
