HOW TO PAINT A DRESSER

Painting furniture is an easy way to give it new life. I have been painting furniture for a long time so I have learned a few things along the way.

This dresser we found at the end of someone’s driveway a few years ago. I had painted it for Dominic’s room, but now that we are using it in the girls room, I wanted to give it an update. A fresh coat of paint was exactly what it needed!

When painting furniture, I like to follow these easy tips and it always turns out perfectly!

WHAT YOU NEED TO PAINT A DRESSER

DIRECTIONS TO PAINT A DRESSER

  1. Sand any scratches, loose paint, dirt off the dresser & wipe completely clean and dry

  2. Remove any hardware before priming/painting. I painted right over the hardware for this piece

  3. Use a foam roller or angled brush and paint a layer of primer on the entire dresser. Take out the drawers to make it easier to paint the fronts & sides.

  4. After allowing the primer to dry (about 30-40 mins), paint a layer of paint

  5. Allow the first coat of paint to dry (I wait about 45 mins- 1 hour) & apply a second coat of paint

  6. I let mine dry completely overnight to really cure & harden

  7. Replace any hardware, put the drawers back, & style as you like!

Painting a dresser is really very easy! It’s so worth the outcome! Would you paint a dresser?
