You don’t have to decorate with true spring decor to make your home feel decorated for spring. I like using these tips to help our home feel refreshed for the season.
PLANTS
I love plants! They are always in our home year round, but I feel like especially for spring, they are the perfect addition. They are happy and bright and bring in lots of fresh greenery.
Even though spring is around the corner, where we live in Rochester, NY, the outdoors aren’t fully spring ready. A lot of times we still get snow and everything is still pretty bare. By having plants indoors, it helps remind me that spring is really coming with all the outdoor plants to come.
COLOR
I have been seeing more and more of my design style lean towards including more color. I love it! It feels really nice having pops of color for spring time. As we come out of the dark and dreary winter, color in my decor feels good.
I add color in my pillows, blankets, and artwork. I pull out some colorful books to display too. I tend to put away the darker colored blankets or pillows in favor of the brighter colors.
TEXTURE
While I love all the cozy, chunky, and comfy textures that winter bring, I love to shed these ‘layers’ and go for a more simplified look. So while outside is cold and you want to bundle up in the winter, spring allows for less layers so I like to do the same for my decor.
I still love good texture, but I like to include more rattan, lighter blankets with less ‘fluff’, adding in more glass, and lighter art.
KITCHENWARE
Spring is a fun time to update or switch out any plates, bowls, cups, etc. There are so many fun patterns and designs along with a variety of colors for kitchenware. This is an easy way to add some spring decor to the kitchen. Even switching our a serving tray to a lighter or brighter color is a good way to make your kitchen feel more springy!
Sometimes, I like to just take out all my white dishware to give a clean, fresh slate to our kitchen. It gives the whole kitchen a new look!
PROJECTS
I love starting the spring with some fresh ideas for our home and our outdoors areas. I like the planning process because it gets me excited to get working!
Some fun projects to take on during the spring are painting a room, planning the garden, adding new planters to your front steps, updating cabinet hardware, and anything else you could think of!
Obviously this tip is going to be super suggestive as to what you want to do around your home, but I always think of the spring as a refresh season so there’s no time like spring to plan some fun updates or projects for your home. Whether they are something small or a major renovation, I love how a new season reinvigorates me and gets me wanting to make some changes!
Hopefully this gives you some new ideas to try out this spring!
