Simple Backyard Deck Idea
I have a really simple idea for creating a backyard deck that is beautiful!
We spend lots of time outside in the backyard so creating a deck that is cozy is essential.

I love creating spaces that we love to live in. It’s something that is important to me so that our family loves where we live. Our backyard is an extension of our home so I wanted to create a space that feels like our home.
Since we have little ones, I keep it pretty simple. Our deck is 2 levels. The first level is our ‘living room’ type space. I have our beautiful outdoor sofa, 2 chairs, and a coffee table here. We have had this set for a few years now and I love it so much. It gives me Serena and Lily vibes for a fraction of the price. I love the ‘x’ details on the sofa and chairs. The cushions are easy to clean too.
I also like having a potting bench up here so that I can easily work with all my plants! I found this one at an antique shop years ago. I love the charm and character it adds up here.
The second level is our eating area. We have our grill here along with the dining table and chairs. The dining table has been a favorite for a while now. Super simple, but works great. It’s easy to clean! The chairs were all thrifted or found at the end of someone’s driveway! We will most likely get new chairs next spring, but these have lasted us a few summers now. I love the mix and match look of the wood with the black table. I found similar ones that I have linked at the bottom.
HOW TO CREATE A COZY BACKYARD DECK
I think string lights instantly create a cozy feel. I love having them and seeing them turn on at dusk. We have ours set to a timer so we don’t have to go out and turn them on. They instantly add a nice ambiance and the perfect glow for evenings outside.
Plants are another way I like to add a cozy and lived in feel. Again, since this is an extension of our home and we have lots of plants indoors, I like to have lots of outdoor plants around too. We have some pansies for a centerpiece on the coffee table, some lettuce, tomatoes, and peppers growing, and I moved my philodendron xanadu outside for the summer.
I love keeping things simple back here so that we can all live comfortably. My kiddos love to use chalk on the deck, play with toys, and run around. By having it simple, our backyard deck is functional for everyone!
