Orange and Purple Fall Front Steps
I went with a mixed color look this fall for our front steps with orange and purples.
I’m loving the look of orange and purple on our front steps for fall this year!
FRONT STEPS
I’m excited to be decorating our front steps this year since having the door replaced. It looks so much more modern out here now so I knew I wanted to create a fun mix for fall decor this year.
We don’t have much of a front porch/steps area, but I still like to add some pumpkins and other fall touches. I love how welcoming it feels in the fall too.
HOW TO CREATE FALL FRONT STEPS USING ORANGE AND PURPLE
I love a layered look. I love how it feels more lived in and cozy. I like to layer pumpkins with mums to get the layered and cozy look on our front steps.
This year, I let the kids pick out all the pumpkins. I didn’t steer them too much, other than trying to get a variety of different pumpkins. We ended up with a bunch of the typical orange pumpkins along with a few heirloom pumpkins in white, blue, and pink.
I also wanted to add some mums this year. I went to Wegman’s for our mums because they were huge, beautiful, and affordable. For the mums colors, I had Gigi pick them out with me. She of course wanted the pinky/purple one and then I chose the burnt orange one.
I love the mix of these colors all together. I love the combo of the cool tones with the warm tones all over the steps.
I first played with the left side by using the purple mum with more of the orange pumpkins, the white pumpkin, and the peach/pink pumpkin. I like laying some pumpkins on their side which gives it that layered look.
The right side has the burnt orange mum with the yellow pumpkin, a couple orange pumpkins, and the blue and peach/pink heirloom pumpkins.
By having most of the orange pumpkins on the opposite side of the orange mum, it ties everything together. I put most of the cool toned pumpkins opposite the pinky/purple mum to balance it out too. By putting similar things on opposite sides of the steps, your eye bounces around giving it a more balanced and cohesive look. It feels random, but also styled.
I’m loving these colors together this fall and hopefully this gives you a little inspiration to use what you love this fall season!
