My Favorite House Project
My favorite house project we have done in this house is updating our kitchen.

My kitchen makeover has been my favorite house project for many reasons!

When we bought this house, the kitchen was so small with not much storage or counter top space. I had a vision for it as soon as we saw it and I’m so glad I was able to bring that vision to life!
While, we still have some things to do to complete the kitchen, I’m so happy with all the progress we have made.
DIY PROJECTS
First thing we did was add these cabinets on the blank wall for much more storage. I truly don’t know how we lasted as long as we did without them considering we love to cook.
We also hired someone to install concrete countertops which added so much more prep space to the kitchen.
Lastly, we hung up the open shelf which provides more storage for every day plates and bowls and cups. With some fun decor, this shelf is functional, but pretty! See full concrete countertop details, HERE.
This side of the kitchen feels much more cohesive with the rest of the kitchen and gives us much more storage and workspace.
On the main side of the kitchen, we wanted to paint the cabinets from the old wooden cabinets. This was a huge undertaking, but SO worth it. See the tutorial for painting cabinets, HERE. It made the entire kitchen look very different. We added new hardware to give the space a more modern finish.
We also had new countertops installed along with a new faucet and sink.
For lighting, we updated the fan to a new modern and sleek fan. We replaced the light above the sink with a fun pendant.
We replaced the oven and microwave as well. We had a gas line installed so we could have a gas oven over electric, since gas ovens are our favorite!
PROJECTS TO STILL COMPLETE
Of course, I always want to make tweaks and changes, but the main thing we want to do is install a backsplash. We plan to do this before we move out of the house.
Since my parents now own the house, they are going to update the flooring eventually and replace the refrigerator.
Our kitchen feels so much more us than we moved in. Our kitchen works much better for us now, which is always the goal!
