Italian Themed Birthday Party

This past weekend we celebrated Dominic’s 3rd birthday with an Italian themed party and it was so fun!

See his 2nd birthday party theme, HERE.

This Italian themed birthday party was the perfect combo of easy and festive for our 3 year old!

We had the best time this weekend at Dominic’s birthday party! It was perfect weather and we had a small party with our parents and siblings. Dominic had his cousins to play with and he had so much fun!

We did an Italian themed party and it was so easy to put together and it was a huge hit! I wanted to do something a little different. I randomly came up with this idea and I love how it all came together.

I didn’t want anything too fussy or over the top, but still wanted his party to be fun and exciting! He is very into cars and buses right now so I wanted to incorporate them in some ways.

ITALIAN THEMED INSPIRATION

Being that we are Italian, we wanted to do Italian food for his party which kind of launched the whole Italian themed party. We decided to do pizza in the end because we knew all 7 kids would eat it and it’s always a crowd pleaser with adults too!

ITALIAN THEMED DECOR

I looked at lots of Italian decor, but didn’t want anything too tacky or ‘grown up’ feeling. This is a 3rd birthday party so I wanted it to be exciting for him!

I came across these vespa balloons and I KNEW they had to be at his party. He LOVED them! They were so cute and were the perfect connection between the Italian theme and the cars that Dominic loves.

I went really simple with red and white streamers taped to the wall. I twisted them to give them a bit more texture. I also added the giant 3 balloon from his actual birthday to complete the wall decor.

The table decor was mainly food which we did all Italian style food ideas. I laid down some kraft paper and served the food right off of it. I put some basil in vases and it smelled so nice and was perfect for a touch of green and some fresh ‘flowers.’

I also used little Italian flags to decorate the charcuterie board. I used red and white gingham plates and green napkins to play off of the Italian flag colors.

PARTY FOOD

For appetizers, we made little caprese bites with a cherry tomato and mozzarella ball on a toothpick. Sprinkled some chopped basil on top and served pesto for dipping. We also did a big charcuterie board right on the table. Lots of different crackers, cheeses, meats, nuts, dried apricots, grapes, and olives. So easy and minimal prep work. I cut everything up beforehand so it was easy to grab and go for our guests.

We did pizza and wings for the main course. We called it in ahead of time too.

For dessert, my parents ordered Dominic some bus cookies from a local baker. He LOVED them! They were also delicious. Her IG is HERE.

My MIL made the cake which came out SO cute. She made a ‘plate of spaghetti and meatballs’ cake. The spaghetti was made of frosting and the meatballs were oreo balls dipped in chocolate with red frosting drizzled on top and sprinkled with white sprinkles for the cheese. It was so perfect! She made extra ‘meatballs’ to serve on the side too.

We had so much fun celebrating Dominic being 3! I can’t believe my little boy is growing up so fast. He’s such a smart and sweet boy and I love watching him learn each day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOMINIC! WE LOVE YOU!!!
