This post is sponsored by Joss and Main, however, all opinions are my own.

Our firepit area is so cozy and welcoming!

See our backyard plans HERE.

We created such a cozy firepit area and made an entire little corner of our yard a relaxing oasis.

I love having a cozy backyard. We love hanging out outside during the spring and summer months. We try and get outside every day and stay out for as long as possible.

We wanted to create a really cozy firepit area in our backyard. I still have a few more things I want to put back here, but I wanted to share how we started this little project.

PICKING AN AREA

We decided on this back corner of the yard because it was away from the house and would be a safe area for the firepit. We wanted it away from where the kids sandbox/toys are too.

We had this big garden bed in the back that we put some mulch down and added a row of bricks and white rocks. I thought this space could use a little coziness so I figured it was the perfect area for the firepit.

Laying out the firepit area

FIREPIT LAYOUT

After we put down the mulch and the rocks/bricks, I took out a couple bricks to create a little pathway to the firepit. I wanted the firepit to sit on rocks to give it a more polished/chic look and I thought it would be safer than just sitting on the grass.

I then laid out the bricks in a square shape surrounding the firepit. I put the firepit in the spot I wanted and laid the bricks around it, evenly. I played around for a bit with making sure the bricks were all lined up and even on both sides. I kept moving the bricks until I liked the layout, the width, and the length of the space. I ended up doing 2 bricks out, then 3 across, then 6 down the sides, and 8 across the back. I made sure that the bricks were aligned and that the brick placement was the same on both sides. So if I put one brick on the inside of the other, I did the same on the opposite side. This made it all look cohesive and not jumbled together.

Next I picked out a bunch of weeds/grass that were coming through the bricks. Lastly, I added some white marble rocks to match the rocks against the mulch. I used about 4.5 bags of rocks for this area.

It was super easy to do and I think it really makes the space pop and feel like it’s own area, not just thrown together.

FIREPIT AND SEATING

Both the firepit and the bench are from Joss and Main. I love these pieces together as I think they are the perfect mix of modern and classic.

The firepit is beautiful. I love the lines with the curved firepit. It feels very modern with the black finish too. It works really well and comes with the prong to help lift off the cover when it’s hot from the fire.

The bench is a gorgeous wood tone. It was super easy to put together and I love it against the white rocks. It’s’ easy to move around too, if we decide to sit somewhere else around the firepit.

FIREPIT AREA PLANS FOR THE FUTURE

I’m not sure when we will get to this, but our plans are to add some solar string lights/spot lights to give off some extra light at night when we are around the firepit.

We also eventually want to add more seating, maybe some adirondack chairs?

Lastly, we want to put in some more plants back here. I’m thinking a big pot of flowers or maybe a hanging basket?

I love this space and how it turned out! I know we will be spending lots of nights out here roasting marshmallows and making memories! The kids love it and have been having fun collecting sticks from the yard to use in a fire!
